At Labelexpo, flexo and flexibility take center stage

Visiting Labelexpo Americas is always invigorating. This year’s event attracted more than 16,000 visitors from 86 countries. There were more than 480 exhibitors in an environment rich with ideas, and with perspectives on both the current state of the label industry and its exciting future.

This year’s event had offerings to engage brand owners interested in embracing new technologies and for converters interested in cost-effective ways to enhance their work. There were more state-of-the-art digital and flexographic solutions than at any Labelexpo Americas in memory.

Many of those solutions focused on innovations in flexographic technology, an interesting shift from the focus two years ago on the strides made in the quality and efficiency of digital presses. This year’s event highlighted the ways in which flexographic producers have upped their game to engage with those digital advances.

There were many exciting developments for a company like Meyers, which works extensively with both digital and flexographic presses, and with a hybrid digital and flexographic press that opens the doors to even more possibilities.

Automation was another a key theme this year, with press manufacturers continuing to offer solutions that make it possible to accomplish more work with less effort.

“This show is as good as any I’ve ever seen,” said Meyers CEO Micheal Lane, who attended the show to participate in a CEO converters panel. “There are more options, more solutions, than perhaps ever. My expectations this year for Labelexpo have been exceeded.”
